The Chiropractors Council was established under the Chiropractors Registration Ordinance, Chapter 428, Laws of Hong Kong, in 1993. With the enactment of the Chiropractors Registration (Fees) Regulation and the Chiropractors (Registration and Disciplinary Procedure) Rules, Chapter 428 subsidiary legislations A and B, Laws of Hong Kong, registration of the profession of chiropractors commenced on 1 September 2001. Relevant provisions in the Ordinance which prohibit practice of chiropractic by unregistered persons has come into effect on 13 February 2003.
The functions of the Chiropractors Council are to:

establish and maintain a register of chiropractors; |

| (ii) |
set and review the qualification standards for registration as a registered chiropractor and related registration matters; |

| (iii) |
advise the Government on registration matters; |
|
| (iv) |
examine and verify the qualifications of persons who apply for registration as registered chiropractors; |
|
| (v) |
receive, examine, accept or reject applications for registration and renewal of registration as a registered chiropractor; |
|
| (vi) |
deal with disciplinary offences; |
|
| (vii) |
keep proper records of its proceedings; and |
|
| (viii) |
carry out such other functions as the Ordinance may prescribe. |
